Founding Director, Studio for Public Spaces
I have worked at San Francisco's Exploratorium as an artist and Exhibit Developer for 24 years. In 2014 I founded the Studio for Public Spaces (SPS) and direct the studio in its work. SPS generates new ways to apply the Exploratorium’s inquiry-based learning theories to a wide range of public landscapes. The studio has completed over a dozen regional and national projects over the last five years including multiple partnerships with the City of San Francisco's City Planning Department. I am also currently the Principal Investigator for the National Science Foundation (NSF) funded grant entitled Middle Ground: Experiments in Urban Social Science.

Street Smarts is a $1.9 million project that will bring research on social psychology to public urban environments. The effort combines recent work by the Exploratorium in social science exhibitry and urban learning spaces to develop a novel contribution to science learning in public spaces. The project will produce an outdoor learning installation in front of San Francisco City Hall that will serve the exceptionally diverse audiences that frequent the area.
